food and staff good.
It requires a make over. Some of the out buildings don't enhance the setting. Our room was very basic. This castle has good potential.

When we arrived we were offered a room at the top of a turret in the hotel. It should be pointed out that this room is only suitable for very able bodied people. The second room we were offered we could access the landing via a lift. This was bright, light and very airy, all the windows opened,a delightful room. The restaurant was very pleasant, the gardens needed some loving care. Overall it was a very pleasant stay.
It was very difficult to leave the bar & dining room room to sit on the terrace. There were no ramps, both had very steep steps. The hotel gardens are very overgrown, the borders even close to the hotel need urgent work done, they are covered in weeds. They looked very unkempt. What a shame the housekeeping staff don't think to clean the window sills,in the first room we were offered there were dead flies on the sills and on the window sill of the window on the stairs there was dead flies, months and other log lost items ie a small tablet of soap, that had been there for months,a little off putting to say the least.

The location and the building.
More effort could be spent on the grounds immediately adjacent to the building. The outside seating area could be improved and the door to the bar from the outside should have a handle on it.

The building itself, the receptionist was supercilious and unhelpful. It took over an hour to get coffee when we arrived.
See above and mould in bathroom plus empty soap and shampoo dispensers.

The location is super, a lovely driveway, and tables in the garden to sit at and enjoy the view. The public areas are fabulous, big rooms, tastefully decorated.. The staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was generous and served with a smile.
The room was quite small, the TV placed so that it was impossible to view comfortably and the kettle lead did not reach the socket...we had to boil it on the floor. The bathroom is a little tired, and for a Best Western, I was surprised to find the complimentary soap and shampoo were public toilet style dispensers on the wall. Shampoo and body soap are definitely not the same! These things did not spoil our stay, and I feel they were reflected in the price.

It is a beautiful castle...on the outside. Our bathroom was up to date and functional.
The interior gave the impression of having been "ridden hard and put up wet". The carpets were stained, walls marred, corridors dark and narrow. We were given a room on the third floor. Not only were the hallways mazelike, but the interior hall lights would not turn on until you walked into the corridor. I am certain it saves money, but it is very odd and somewhat creepy. The walls are not soundproofed.

Charming hotel in spacious grounds out in the country. Very relaxing
The bedroom was rather cramped and the dressing table positioned badly making circulation difficult around the bed.
